Earlier this month, President Mike Giffhorn announced internally his plan to retire at the end of February.  In sharing his retirement plans Mike stated, “After 30 great years, and record results in 2017, it is time for me to move to the next phase of my life.  I want you to know what a pleasure it has been to work with each and every Cubic employee over the years.  Cubic is well positioned to continue the growth and success that we’ve enjoyed for so many years together.” Mike added, “We have the strongest group of dealers, distributors, and customers in the industry, which has always been the key to our success.  Collectively, thanks to everyone, for the impact you’ve had on my life.”  Mike’s leadership will be truly missed, but we echo his sentiment that he is leaving the company strong and healthy, and for that we are truly grateful.

As a result of this change, MiTek announced that Jay Sugar will assume the role of Vice President and General Manager. In this role Jay will be responsible for all aspects of Cubic Designs and Accurate Installations, effective March 1. Jay and Mike will be working closely together over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

Jay joined the company as Vice President of Operations in October of 2016 and helped lead Engineering, Operations, and Accurate to deliver a fantastic 2017.  Prior to joining Cubic, Jay had 25 years of manufacturing, sales, and operations experience with a number of Wisconsin companies, including Westpro Power Systems and Generac.  Jay has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselar Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.  Jay’s strong and diverse business background and extensive experience in leadership and management, make him well suited to be the next leader for Cubic Designs and Accurate Installations.

In addressing the changes at Cubic Designs, MiTek Group President Gene Toombs recently remarked “We are truly excited about the future opportunities for the rapidly growing Cubic Designs business and the value proposition that we are privileged to bring to our customers.  Please join me in thanking Mike for his 30 years of dedicated service to Cubic and Accurate, as well as congratulating Jay on his new position.”
